The centre started life as a large family owned fuchsia nursery in the 1960s. Even when it was sold and converted into a garden centre, the family stayed involved, with old man Blackwell's sons at the helm - where they remained until the early 1980s! Several developments at the centre have resulted in a very large plantarea with a large covered area from the entrance of the centre.
Links with the local community are strong and the centre works closely with schools and charities across Swindon and Wiltshire. We have arranged successful bingo nights and quiz nights which have raised money for local charities.
Our air conditioned and licensed restaurant sells a wide range of delicious home-made snacks and lunches. There is also free wi-fi available.
Our helpful horticultural experts pride themselves on giving good practical advice to expert and amateur gardeners alike. We all look forward to welcoming you to the centre soon.
