Can anyone suggest some chicken-proof plants that will give my garden some colour? My chickens often free range around the garden and they will eat nearly anything.

Plants such as Nandina domestica, Iris, Agapnthus, Roses, Camellia, Rhodoendron, Azaleas and other woody shrubs tend to be chicken proof. Damage and destruction may be caused to the soil and roots as chickens will be in search of bugs, grubs and snail eggs - protecting the root will be necessary.
