Questions and Answers
If I plant paperwhite daffodils indoors how long do they flower for? And when is the best time to plant them outside for flowering in the garden?
If you plant the bulbs in bowls or containers, make sure the tips are poking through the bulbs fibre. Place the containers in a dark, cool place for 6-8 weeks. Once the shoots reach 5cm the containers can be moved to a sunny windowsill and you can then expect them to flower for several weeks. Keep the compost moist throughout.
Once forced, paperwhite’s have little potential outdoors. However, once the flowers have died, you can trim down the dead foliage and transfer the bulbs to a sunny spot in the garden. If looked after well, they should flower again next spring.
