Can potted Dahlias change colour? My baby pink ones are turning red and my red ones are turning white. When and how do I prepare them for Autumn/Winter?

There are some varieties that open one colour and fade to another, there is also the possibility of '€˜Sporting'€™ that is a mutation that is found not just in dahlias, but other plants as well.

The accepted way to prepare Dahlias autumn/winter is to, wait until the foliage has been blackened by the first frost, then cut back within 15cm of the soil surface, remove from the pot and wash off all the soil. Allow it to dry out fully before packing in dry sand in a frost free location for the winter.
