Questions and Answers
My bulbs are starting to grow and I'm worried when the weather turns cold (which may not be till Feb) that the flowers will suffer. I've got grape hyacinths in a hanging basket in a sheltered porch and daffodil bulbs in pots and in the ground. What can I do to protect them, or will they be ok?
Have no fear. Bulbs often start to grow and show themselves during mild weather periods. If the weather stays mild they will flower earlier than normal, more often than not the cold weather will arrive and your bulbs will stop dead in their tracks growing away again once the weather warms up as spring approaches. You don’t have to worry about frost damage, bulbs are super hardy and will not be damaged however hard the frost.
