Clematis - 2.5 litres
Clematis 'Dr.Ruppel' is a justly popular, free-flowering variety with abundant large pink flowers with a bold, deep rose-pink stripe in the centre of each tepal and a cluster of white stamens, in May-June and again in September. Suitable for training up a wall, arch or trellis and for growing up a tripod or obelisk in a border or container.
Height and spread 2.5-3m by 90cm (8-10ft x 3ft). Plant in deep, fertile, humus-rich soil, preferably in light shade, with its roots in shade. For container-growing, use a 50:50 mix of John Innes No 3 potting compost and multi-purpose compost. Keep well watered and feed fortnightly with a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season.
