Clematis x cartmanii hort 'Joe'
Clematis - 2 litres
Clematis x cartmanii hort. 'Joe' is a delightful evergreen hybrid clematis with finely dissected leaves and abundant pure white flowers in early spring. It can be trained to 1.5m (5ft) or more as a climbing plant, or allowed to trail, growing to a height of about 20cm (8in), spreading to around 50cm (20in).
Not fully hardy, but will survive most winters with the protection of a sheltered warm wall. Plant in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil, in sun or light shade, with its roots in the shade; or alternatively, grow it in a container, either as a trailing plant or as a climber trained up canes, keeping it outdoors in the summer, in a cool conservatory in winter, where it will flower earlier. Prune lightly after flowering.
