Clematis 'Nelly Moser' is a classic, enduringly popular variety, with large pale pink flowers with bold dark central bars and red anthers in May and again in September. Suitable for training up a wall, arch or trellis and for growing in a container.
Height and spread 2-3m by 90cm (6.5-8ft x 3ft). Plant in deep, fertile, humus-rich soil, in any aspect other than north facing, with its roots in shade.
Pruning group 2: in February or March remove dead, damaged or weak stems and cut remaining stems back to the highest strong pair of buds. Mulch with well-rotted manure or garden compost, keeping away from the base of the plant. Feed with slow-release fertiliser. Keep plants in containers well watered and feed fortnightly with a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season.
