Clematis Rebecca = 'Evipo16'PBR
Clematis - 3 litres
Clematis Rebecca ('Evipo016') (PBR) has to be one of the finest of all large-flowered Clematis, with gorgeous velvety true red flowers all through the summer. This specimen plant will quickly make an impact trained on a wall, trellis, pergola or arch, or in a container on a patio. Height and spread 2-2.5m by around 1m (6-8ft x 40in).
Plant in well-drained, humus-rich soil, with the top of the rootball 5-8cm below the surface of the soil, in sun or light shade, preferably with the roots and base of the plant shaded. In late winter work a handful of bonemeal into the soil and mulch with garden compost or well-rotted manure, avoiding contact with the plant. For container-growing, choose a large container and fill with a good quality multi-purpose compost mixed with John Innes No 3. Keep plants in containers well-watered and feed fortnightly with a balanced fertiliser fortnightly through the growing season. Renew the top 10cm of compost each year in spring.
Pruning: (Group 2) In February-March, first remove all dead or damaged stems; next cut back all stems to the topmost strong buds. Tie in to trellis or horizontal wire supports as it grows.
