Leyland Cypress - 3 litres
Cuprocyparis leylandii , the Leyland cypress, is the classic fast-growing conifer, rapidly making a tall hedge or screen to give shelter and privacy. Grows up to 1m a year. It also makes a fine specimen tree, with an ultimate height of 35m by 5m.
Thrives in deep, well-drained soil in sun or light shade. For a 2-5m hedge plant 1m apart in well-prepared ground. Water thoroughly once a week in spring and summer during the first two seasons after planting. Trim 2 or 3 times between May and September, avoiding cutting into old wood. Not suitable for the most exposed sites.
