Hibiscus syriacus 'Ardens' is an uncommon variety with double pale rose-purple flowers with maroon centres, from late summer into autumn. Initially upright, broadening with age, grows up to 3m.high by 2m. Plant in moist but well-drained soil, in a sunny, sheltered site. In cold areas mulch roots in autumn. All Hibiscus come into leaf late in spring.
