Erica arborea 'Albert's Gold' is the best known and most popular of all the Tree heathers, valued for its wonderfully bright golden soft evergreen foliage which provides cheerful colour throughout the year and for its compact upright habit. Scented white flowers are an occasional bonus in early spring. A delightful feature shrub under-planted with red or white flowered Erica carnea and x darleyensis varieties. Height and spread slowly up to 2m by 80cm (6.5ft x 32in).

Plant in well-drained, humus-rich soil, in a sunny site, sheltered from cold winds. Tolerant of alkaline soils,(as are E.carnea and x darleyensis varieties). Good in containers, but would need winter protection in cold areas. To maintain compactness, trim lightly in late spring or early summer.
