Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote'

Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote' is an iconic variety of English lavender, with a profusion of deep violet-purple flower spikes all summer over a neat mound of slender greyish-green evergreen foliage. Highly attractive to butterflies and bees and excellent for cutting and drying. Ideal at the front of shrub or mixed borders, in Mediterranean-style borders, in herb gardens, edging paths or growing as a low hedge. Height and spread 35cm (60cm including flowers) by 75cm.
Plant in well-drained soil in a sunny position sheltered from cold winds. Hates cold wet soil. For a hedge, plant 25-30cm apart.Trim lightly after flowering in late summer.
This plant has an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Bee and butterfly friendly.
