Lavandula stoechas 'Provencal'
French Lavender 'Provencal' - 2 litres
Lavandula stoechas 'Provencal' is a variety of French lavender with fine, intensely aromatic greyish-green foliage and dense spikes of dark purple flowers topped with showy light reddish-purple bracts from late spring to early autumn. Highly attractive to butterflies and bees and excellent for cutting and drying. Ideal with other Mediterranean plants such as cistus and phlomis. Height and spread 60cm.
Plant in well-drained soil in a sunny position, sheltered from cold winds. Not as hardy as English lavender-needs a warm spot. Hates cold wet soils. Avoid rich soils. Can be grown in a patio container but this would need frost protection in winter. Trim lightly after flowering in early autumn.
Bee and butterfly friendly.
