Cordyline australis 'Red Star'
Cabbage Palm - 13 cm
Cordyline australis 'Red Star' (cabbage palm) is a handsome architectural plant that forms an upright clump of long, deep purplish-red sword-shaped leaves. Ideal for creating a sub-tropical effect in containers or giving height and interest to borders as a 'dot plant'.
Medium-sized frost hardy evergreen. Plant in well-drained fertile soil in a sunny or partially-shaded position sheltered from cold winds. Less hardy than the plain green-leaved species; in all but the mildest areas best grown in a container and overwintered in a cool conservatory or greenhouse. If grown outside as a 'dot plant', lift in October and overwinter somewhere frost-free.
