Paeonia lactiflora Alexander Fleming'
Peony - 3 litres
Paeonia lactiflora 'Alexander Fleming' is a wonderfully showy, free-flowering peony with large, sweetly scented double deep pink flowers, on strong, upright stems, in June. Makes an excellent cut flower. Height and spread 110cm x 80cm.
Thrives in deep, rich, well-drained soil, in a sunny, sheltered border. Herbaceous peonies should not be planted deeply: plant with the crown just below the surface of the soil. Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost in early spring, avoiding contact with the plant. At the same time erect twiggy or plastic-coated wire supports for it to grow through. Remove flowers as they fade. Cut down to the ground in late autumn.
