Agapanthus 'Blue Giant' lives up to its name with big, round heads, densely packed with rich blue trumpet-shaped flowers in late summer on stems up to 1.2m high. An imposing feature in a sunny border or large container and superb as cut flowers. Height and spread up to 1.2m by 60cm. A good seaside plant.
Plant in spring or summer in moist but well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered position. Feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertiliser until flowering. Hardy, but still cover with a protective dry mulch in winter.To grow in containers, use John Innes No 3 potting compost, water freely during the growing season, keep dry in a frost-free place over winter.
