Crocosmia - 3 litres
Crocosmia 'Mistral' is one of the earliest Crocosmias into flower, with arching stems of upward-facing yellow-throated burning orange-red flowers, from July to September, over a bold sheaf of sword-shaped, pleated leaves. A striking addition in the border and good as a cut flower. Combines well with yellow and red Crocosmias, Rudbeckias, Heleniums and Dahlias.
Height and spread 90cm by 40cm (3ft x 16in). Thrives in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil, in sun or light shade. To keep flowering well and to maintain flower size, divide and replant in early spring every two or thee years. Mulch in autumn in cold areas.
