Houttuynia cordata 'Pied Piper'
Heart-Leaved Houttuynia - 2 litres
Houttuynia cordata'Pied Piper' is a fabulously colourful deciduous perennial with orange, yellow, red and green variegated foliage, scented strongly of Seville oranges when crushed. Single white flowers open in summer. Makes an attractive and unusual ground cover in moist borders and by the water's edge. Can also be grown as a pond marginal. Excellent in a container. Grows 25-50cm high with an indefinite spread., though much less invasive than the plain species.
Thrives in moist to wet soil, though also quite tolerant of dry soil where it spreads less vigorously, with best foliage colour in full sun. In cold areas mulch roots in winter. Do not allow plants in containers to dry out.
