Agapanthus 'Sofie' (PBR) is a stunning, very distinct new variety with compact heads filled with gorgeous intense deep blue flowers, opening wide from dark buds, over a long period from mid to late summer. Can have up to 50 flower stems on a mature plant! Fabulous at the front of a sunny border or in a container and superb as cut flowers. Attractive to butterflies. Good seaside plant. Height and spread 80cm by 40cm.
Plant in spring or summer in moist but well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered position. Cover with a protective dry mulch in winter. To grow in containers, use John Innes No 3 potting compost, water freely during the growing season, feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertiliser until flowering. Keep containers dry in a frost-free place over winter.
Bee and butterfly friendly.
