Pachysandra terminalis 'Variegata'
Variegated Japanese spurge - 2 litres
Pachysandra terminalis 'Variegata' is an attractive variety of this useful carpeting evergreen, with distinctive broad green leaves margined white, adding a brighter touch to shady areas. It has the same spikes of tiny scented white flowers in early summer. It associates well with Hostas and ferns and makes weed-suppressing ground cover in a shrub border and woodland gardens. A Japanese native plant, related to Box.
Slower-growing than the species, with a height and spread of 15cm by 60cm (6in x 2ft). Plant 20-30cm (8-12in) apart as ground cover. Happiest in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil, though coping with all but very dry soils.
This plant has an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
British nursery grown.
