Rosa x xanthina Canary Bird'
Shrub rose - 3 litres
Rosa x xanthina 'Canary Bird' is among the first roses to come into flower, in May and June, when its elegant, slender arching branches are covered with bright clear yellow single flowers, paling to cream in hot weather, with golden stamens. There is a light, fruity scent. The attractive fresh green ferny leaves are untouched by disease. The flowers are followed by black hips. Lovely in a mixed border with other shrubs and perennials. Give it plenty of space-it is worth it and resents pruning.
Height and spread 2.5m by 4m (8ft x 12ft). Thrives in rich, well-drained soil in an open, sunny site, sheltered from strong winds.
This plant has an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
