Blackcurrant 'Ben Alder' PBR - 3 litres
Ribes nigrum Blackcurrant 'Ben Alder' PBR is a first class compact variety producing heavy crops of large currants with an excellent intense falvour, ripening in late July. Noted for good disease resistance and tolerance of frost, which makes it a good choice for cold areas.
Height and spread around 1.5m by 1.2m (5ft x 4ft). Plant 1.5m apart in well-drained fertile soil, rich in organic matter, in sun or partial shade, sheltered from cold, drying winds. Prune annually in winter or after fruiting, cutting a few of the older fruited branches down to the ground. Apply a dressing of Fish, blood and bone and mulch in spring.
