High Bush Blueberry 'Earliblue' - 4 litres
Vaccinium Blueberry 'Earliblue' is an excellent early variety, reliably producing heavy crops of large, sweet, flavoursome light blue berries, ripening in early July, delicious fresh or in pies or muffins. Scented pink and white flowers in spring and brilliant red autumn colour are highly ornamental in a border, fruit garden or patio container. It will crop on its own, but better crops are obtained cross-pollinating with a different variety such as Bluecrop, which also extends the picking season. Height and spread around 1.5m.
Plant 1.5m apart in moist but well-drained, lime-free soil rich in organic matter, in a reasonably sunny site, adding coarse sand and sawdust to the planting hole. For containers, use ericaceous compost and feed with an acid feed. Prune in winter, removing one or two older stems down to the base. Feed with Fish, blood and bone and mulch in spring.
