Fragaria x ananassa 'Elsanta'
Strawberry 'Elsanta' - 9 cm
Fragaria x ananassa 'Elsanta' is one of the most popular mid-season strawberries, valued for its heavy yields of attractive glossy fruit with a gorgeous flavour. Pick from mid- June to mid- July.
Plant 30-40cm (12-16in) apart in a well-prepared, well-drained soil rich in organic matter, in a sunny, sheltered site. Avoid frost pockets. Tuck straw or black polythene under them as the berries begin. For growing in containers use a good multi-purpose compost, keep well watered-preferably watering in the morning-and feed weekly with a high potash liquid feed. Good crops can also be produced using grow bags.
Bee and butterfly friendly.
