Ribes uva-crispa 'Hinnonmaki Yellow'
Gooseberry 'Hinnonmaki Yellow' - 3 litres
Ribes uva-crispa 'Hinnonmaki Yellow' is an excellent, very hardy mid-season variety, specifically bred in Finland for hardiness and disease-resistance, reliably producing prolific crops of large greenish-yellow fruit. Self-fertile. Ready to pick from late May for cooking and preserving, but larger and yellower, with a sweet, aromatic taste, delicious for eating fresh, by mid-July. Eventual height and spread 1.2m by 1.5m.
Plant 1.5m apart in reasonably well-drained, fertile soil, rich in organic matter, in an open, sunny, lightly shaded spot, sheltered from wind and avoiding frost pockets. Prune annually in winter. This vigorous, spreading variety may require some support in maturity. Apply a slow release general fertiliser in spring.
This plant is supplied in a 3L pot but is not necessarily pot grown.
