Ribes uva-crispa 'Invicta'
Gooseberry 'Invicta' - 3 litres
Ribes uva-crispa 'Invicta' is a classic variety highly valued for its outstanding disease-resistance, reliably producing exceptionally heavy crops of well flavoured, pale green fruit. Self-fertile. Ready to pick from late May for cooking and preserving, for which it is particularly recommended, but sweeter and delicious for eating fresh, by mid-July. Eventual height and spread around 1.2-1.5m.
Plant 1.5m apart in reasonably well-drained, fertile soil, rich in organic matter, in an open, sunny, lightly shaded spot, sheltered from wind and avoiding frost pockets. Prune annually in winter. Apply a slow release general fertiliser in spring.
This plant is supplied in a 3L pot but is not necessarily pot grown.
This plant has an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
