Redcurrant 'Laxton's Number One' - 3 litres
Ribes rubrum (Redcurrant) 'Laxton's Number One' is a popular traditional variety producing heavy crops of delicious, top quality bright red fruit early in the season, ready to pick in mid July. Excellent for summer puddings, pies and jelly and wine-making. Birds enjoy them but usually leave plenty for human consumption! All redcurrants are self-fertile.
Height and spread up to 1.75m high by 1.5m (6ft x 5ft). Plant in well-drained fertile soil rich in organic matter in a sunny or partially-shaded position, sheltered from strong winds and avoiding frost pockets to prevent damage to the blossom. Prune annually in winter.
