Capsicum chinense Scotch Bonnet
Chilli Scotch Bonnet
Capsicum chinense (Chilli) Scotch Bonnet is not for the faint of heart! However, any chilli-head will champion its great flavour and place in cooking, and not just for simulating the sensation of lava in your mouth! Used carefully, Scotch Bonnet is a superb chilli for spicing up salsas, stews and sauces. Grow in containers in the greenhouse or on a sunny patio.
Plant directly into 25cm pots or into growing bags, 3 to a bag. Keep compost evenly moist, never waterlogged. Apply a balanced fertiliser or liquid feed every two weeks during the growing season. Plant outdoors from March to June and harvest from July to October in a sunny well sheltered sight.
