Radicchio Lettuce 'Leonardo' - 6 plants per
6 plants per strip
Cichorium intybus Lettuce Raddichio 'Leonardo' is a vigorous variety producing round colourful heads of deep red and white leaves, 10-12cm wide and weighing up to 1 lb. at maturity. Suitable for spring, summer and autumn crops, growing more quickly in warm weather, slower-growing but with a better colour and flavour in cooler weather. Adds crunch, zest and colour to salads. Plant 20-25cm apart in well-drained, humus-rich soil, in sun or partial shade.
Protect from slugs. Water well in dry weather. Always water in the morning up to midday. Watering late in the day increases the risk of rotting.
Plant outdoors from March to September and harvest from June to March.
This plant has an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
