Brassica rapa Pak Choi 'Yang Qing Choi' - Chinensis Group - is rated as the best green leaf variety, forming compact, vase-shaped plants with deep green leaves with pale green midribs. Equally good raw in salads or in stir fries. Pick a few leaves at a time to 'cut and come again' over a long period, or allow to grow to full size and harvest whole plant. Suitable for summer crops outside and for autumn and winter crops in tunnels or greenhouses.
Tease the seedlings from the pack and plant 15-20cm apart in well-drained, humus-rich soil, in sun or partial shade. Protect from slugs. Water in dry weather.
Plant outdoors from March to September and harvest from May to November.
