Helleborus are good for planting under trees and against deciduous shrubs.
Helleborus niger produces pure white star shaped flowers that look stunning over the dark green foliage. This helleborus flowers during the winter period, often flowering at Christmas, hence its other name of the Christmas rose. The flowers are long lasting providing colour from winter into spring.
Helleborus are fully hardy and suited to growing in almost any light condition from full sun to shade. They prefer a moist but free-draining soil where they will grow to about 30cm (12").
